The drums and drum beaters are hand-crafted by the Tarahumara Mexican-Indians, one of the last indigenous tribes in North America. The Tarahumara have inhabited the rugged Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range for thousands of years.
Each one-of-a-kind drum (and drum beater) is hand-crafted using primitive tools in poor conditions. I cherish all of the imperfections, as it adds to the uniqueness of each drum. The drums and drum beaters provide the “canvas” for my art; as I paint, I feel a deep connection to an ancient and primitive way of life.
